How do you throw a party in your
home?
あなたの国の「ホームパーティ」はどんなカンジ？
China
Chinese often have parties with close friends,
especially on weekend afternoons. Four or five
people get together, and kids also join in.
Baby-sitters are not common in China. Close
friends take turns holding parties and cooking
together. Family matters are a major topic for
conversation. We also often talk about politics
because Chinese are sensitive to political changes.
In a formal setting, the elderly are seated
first at the center of table and the host and
hostess sit by the door.
中国は多民族国家なので民族によって違いますが、友達４、５人でホームパーティーするのが一般的。お互いの家を順番に会場にして
土、日のお昼によく集まります。事前に皆で何を料理するか打ち合わせして一緒に料理します。大抵、子供も一緒ですね。家族の話が多いけど、中国人は政治のことも良く話しますよ。席割りとかは目上の人から順番に、招いた側はドアに近くに着くのが習慣だけどこれは少し公式的な時ですね。
USA
Americans love to party. We like the style of
coming and going: You can come and leave a party
whenever you want. Unlike Japan, you don't have
to be punctual; the host or hostess expects
you to show up a bit later than the announced
time. A party normally starts at about 8 p.m.
and sometimes goes to the following morning.
Parents arrange for a babysitter for evening
parties. We talk about a lot of things, but
they vary depending on who's there. For example,
at a book party the main topic is reviewing
books. There are tons of different kinds of
parties.
アメリカではcome & goといって、あまり気を遣わず好きな時に来て会話を楽しみ、帰りたい時に帰るパーティが一般的です。大抵８時頃から夜遅くまでですが、約束の時間より遅く行くのがエチケット。子供はベビーシッターに預けます。１０人位は来るかな。４０人位の事も。いろんなことを話しますが、参加するメンバーよって話題は違ってきます。例えばブックパーティーと言って、本についての感想を述べ合うパーティーもあります。アメリカにはいろんな種類のパーティがあるんです。
Japan
We often throw parties at home. I usually get
together with my friends from school or co-workers.
In this season nabe (hotpot) is nice. It's easy
to prepare, be with friends and talk a lot around
the table. I always think about who I should
invite. I prepare food and the guests bring
something to drink. Parties start about from
6 or 7 p.m. and go until midnight. We talk about
work. I don't talk about my boyfriend unless
it's with my close friends.
結構しますよ、ホームパーティ。学生時代の友達か、会社の仲間内とかが多いかな。2,3人の時も10人近い時もあるけど。この時期だと鍋が多いかなぁ。準備が楽だから気軽に呼べるし、話す方に集中できるし。メンツは選びますね。義理では呼びたくないし。こちらが食べるものを用意して、お客さんに飲み物類を買ってきてもらう感じかな。大体夜6･7時くらいから、夜中近くまで･･･。やっぱり会社の話が多いかな。彼氏･彼女の話は、よっぽど親しい人とじゃないとしません。
Britain
We usually invite about 20 people, but you'll
eventually have 50 people because everyone brings
someone. There is always a gate-crasher, too.
You have to keep your fragile goods and furniture
in a locked room. The host provides the house
and music. The guests bring cheep beer, takeout
Indian food, or pizza. A party will start after
the pubs close at 11 and end when everybody
gets drunk and falls down. All we talk about
is how we can send the neighbors back home if
they come to our place to tell us to be quiet
because the music is too loud!
たいてい20人ぐらい呼ぶけど、皆友達を連れてくるから50人ぐらいになっちゃう。勝手に入ってくるGate
Crasherが必ずいるし。事前に壊れ物や家具はカギをかけて避難させておく。ホストは場所と音楽だけを提供して、ゲストの方が勝手に安いビールやテイクアウトのインド料理やピザなんかを持ってくる。11時にパブが閉まってから始まって、皆が酔っ払って倒れたら終わり(笑)。音楽ががんがんかかってるから、話題はいま近所の人が文句言いに来たらどうやって追い返そうって事ばっかりだよ。
